🚀 Role Summary

The Lead Software Systems Engineer will serve as the primary point of contact between Boeing and NATO for unmanned systems working groups, driving changes to NATO C2 Standards and ensuring Boeing's interests are represented. 💻 Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain working relationships with NATO leadership in unmanned systems working groups
  • Provide guidance to Boeing programs on the use of NATO C2 Standards
  • Submit recommended changes to NATO standards and review changes provided by others
  • Act as a focal point for Boeing's interaction with NATO standards development working groups concerning unmanned vehicles, use of autonomy, and command & control
  • Collaborate and consult with software engineering leads, test leads, and system design teams on Boeing programs regarding OMS functional allocations and responsibilities, software architecture, software requirements, and test strategies
  • Represent Boeing OMS to outside organizations and discuss changes to the OMS Standard
  • Work with all Air Dominance Programs within Boeing to advise on NATO and OMS Standards implementations and create and submit changes to NATO and OMS Standards
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Open C2 Standards development and mentor others
  • Work well in a group setting and have strong interpersonal and communication skills

Experience: 10+ years of experience with the Department of Defense (DoD), International Customers, NATO, or the United States Air Force (USAF)

Required Skills:

  • Experience in systems engineering (i.e., system or software requirements, development, and/or test)
  • Experience defining Open Mission Systems (OMS)
  • Experience in interface management, including interface control documents and interface design documents
  • Knowledge of NATO STANAG Standards such as STANAG 4586 and 4817 (Preferred)
  • Experience with Universal C2 Interface (UCI) Systems (Preferred)
  • Ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
  • Knowledge of company, state, federal, and/or International compliance regulations (e.g., import/export, intellectual properties, ISO, FAA, JAA, ICAO, ITAR)
  • Knowledge of customer's/supplier's organization, processes, policies, and procedures, products, requirements, capabilities, practices, support resources, preferences, constraints, etc.
  • Knowledge of engineering discipline(s) applied to product-related systems throughout the product development life cycle, from concept development to deployment
  • Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes
  • Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices in the development, testing, and deployment of software
  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area

  • Master of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle, including manufacturing, deployment, modification, aging and continued service, and disposal
  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle
  • Knowledge of implementation, validation, and verification processes, practices, and guidelines to ensure software development quality, performance, and safety
